About John Koopman III

Since 2006, I have had the honor of portraying General George Washington in many National Parks, State Parks, and other historic sites all along the East Coast. I have also appeared in documentaries in that role (see Actor’s Resume). I am based in Connecticut.

My impression is unique in that I own the most authentic reproduction made to date of the uniform worn by the General. My uniform, horse tack, and other accoutrements were made by the same artisans who produced the exhibit at the Mount Vernon Museum. According to research conducted for the exhibit, which includes three life-sized figures of Washington that were made based on the most up-to-date and accurate historical information available, my physique and dimensions are almost identical to that of George Washington. I have added a selection of civilian clothing to my Washington wardrobe collection, and these additions have been made according to the same exacting standards as the uniform.

My horse Bear is a battle-hardened reenacting horse and is parade-trained.  He is also very good with children.  I can appear onsite by myself or with Bear.
